Lake Balaton, referred to as "Hungary's Sea", is situated right in the middle of Transdanubia. With a shoreline of almost 200 km it is Europe's largest freshwater lake and very popular due to its large water volume and the Mediterranean like microclimate with pleasureable temperatures.
